Zetes CardS was formerly named CEC (Cards Encoding Company).

In 1984, CEC was founded by Eurocard Belgium to carry out the personalisation of Eurocard cards. It very soon became one of the leaders of the plastic card industry in Belgium.

In 1993, the company was taken over by Bank Card Company and became the official supplier to all Belgian banks.

In November 1999, CEC was incorporated into the ZETES group, the European leader in automatic identification and wireless communication solutions.

In March 2003, CEC has been renamed ZETES CardS (ZETES Cards and Services) to underline the extension of its range of services and the synergy with ZETES PASS, also member of the ZETES group.
